ABOUT ME

I am a cell and molecular biologist having keen interests and expertise in cell culture with major focus on germ cells. My research project has allowed me to hone my skills in molecular techniques viz. DNA isolation, RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, real-time PCR, immunocytochemistry, transfection techniques etc. I am currently working on CRISPR-cas9 tool to genetically modify cPGCs to answer some very interesting questions regarding sperm mobility and fertility using chicken as a model.

I also had opportunity to get involved in lameness project that exposed me to the world of microbiology and pathology
that includes diagnosing lame birds, necropsy, identifying the pathological lesions, isolation of bacterial load from the bone lesions, their culture, identification etc.(we were the first to associate
Staphylococcus agnetis with chondronecrosis osteomyelitis in broiler chicken).

We are now focusing our attention towards immunological aspects to investigate the mechanism of pathogenicity of S.agnetis using chicken macrophages(chicken HTC cell line). Phagocytosis assays and confocal microscopy have helped us too clearly demonstrate the high pathogenicity of the Staphylococcus agnetis.

Besides being molecular biologist by heart, I am an avid dancer, voracious reader and dilettante chef!

Detection of SNPs using GWAS between High and low sperm mobile lines.

-Using R as a statistical tool to generate Manhattan plots to analyze GWAS data.
